Whats in a name or your name?

Have to say Thank you to Saddlebrooke residents who wrote and provided this history and information. It is a reprint of those drafts.

Update provided in February 2023 by Mona Divine. Wikipedia had originally denied a request to remove the page with the wrong spelling. Or at least link it to a correct spelling. I sent the information to USGS mapping, and now the duplicate wikipedia result using Saddle Brooke ( instead of the correct , SaddleBrooke has been eliminated.)

Why are there two Saddlebrookes on Wikipedia? Why do some in Eagle Crest say they live at SaddleBrooke.

The name Saddle Brooke, using a space in the name, was entered onto a USGS map on June 15, 2009 by the U.S. Forest Service. Most likely a simple error in spelling.

The unincorporated city and Census Designated Place “SaddleBrooke” (* no space is used and SaddleBrooke is all one word) and Saddle Brooke are at the same location.

The spelling of Saddle Brooke utilizing a space occurred only on that one Forest Service entry, which designated it as a populated place. It is not commonly used by any businesses, government agencies, or postal service. The only reference to the name with a space, is on Wikipedia as a populated place.

The name SaddleBrooke is the common spelling.

This spelling as one word had been used by county, postal, census bureau, businesses, developers, and property deeds in the area. It predates the USFS 2009 entry. SaddleBrooke, one word, was used starting in 1987 by the Robson Corporation . Over 10,000 deed entries utilize the common spelling of “Saddlebrooke”. It is one word, with no space. See references #1,#2 #3.

In 2022, Saddlebrooke was the 57th most populated unincorporated city in Arizona with a population of 13,166. See reference #4

The larger retirement communities were developed first and named SaddleBrooke. Many assume that “SaddleBrooke” only means the retirement communities. However as the unincorporated area around the retirement community progressed, the postal service and other entities designated the surrounding area and “town”as Saddlebrooke. Eagle Crest Ranch is located near the main entry to the SaddleBrooke area. Sundance Ridge is being developed on the northern section of the area. These and a few smaller neighborhoods may all be designated on deeds as part of “SaddleBrooke”. They are also within the Census Designated Area known as “SaddleBrooke”.
