This year’s No. 1 spot is Tumerico, a vegetarian Mexican restaurant in Tucson, Arizona. Tumerico is Tucson’s favorite Latin inspired vegan & vegetarian restaurant.
Owned by James Beard Award semi-finalist chef Wendy Garcia, the restaurant boasts a 4.8-star rating out of more than 1,000 reviews
UNESCO City of Gastronomy, Tucson was the First.
On 15 December 2015, Tucson, Arizona, became the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy designated in the United States, joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN). The UCCN is an association that recognizes urban areas around the world for how they use cultural heritage and creativity as factors for sustainable development. The association supports designated cities in becoming hubs of creativity and cultural production.
More recently, Boca Tacos Chef Mazon was a finalist on Top Chef. The city has also hosted the finals of the Top Chef Tv show.
